Admissions

Open Houses and Scheduled Visits

Atheneum offers several open houses during the spring for parents and their children who wish to know more about the school. The open houses provide an opportunity to meet and talk with the faculty, tour the school building, and receive the school's bulletin and application packet. Please, call for the exact dates and times of the open houses. Prospective students and their parents may also schedule either a morning or afternoon visit to the school. The school encourages visits from interested students and their parents. It makes every effort to ensure that they have the opportunity to participate fully in the discussions and learning of the particular class they visit. Please contact the school at least two days in advance to schedule a visit.

Application Packet

Students who wish to be considered for admission to Atheneum must obtain and complete the school's application packet. The completed application consists of two brief essays from the student, basic information about the student, transcripts from his or her current school, and the student's and parent?s signatures testifying that they have read, understood, and accept the principles outlined in the school community's policies. You can start the application process by filling out the Application for Admissions.

International Students

Please add to the above form the living arrangements you have made for your time as a student in the US. Your address and host family or apartment in the US is necessary to complete your immigration papers. The school will start the immigration process through SEVIS for your I-20 application for the student visa as soon as we have the information on the form above. The school applies for you and sends you the necessary paperwork. We register your student, then send you the necessary forms to present to the US consulate office in your country.

Interview

After receiving the completed application from a prospective student, the school's staff will schedule an interview with the student and the student's parents. A completed application guarantees an interview. The purpose of the interview is to begin with the prospective student the type of conversation and learning that take place at the school. The interview is generally relaxed and very often enjoyable for all involved. After the interview the staff meets to discuss the student and come to a decision about admission. Applicants will hear of the school's decision within one week of the interview.

Because Atheneum is a private school – we must charge tuition to cover our operating expense to support our exceptional standard of education. Students from all backgrounds will find that Atheneum’s environment embraces the principles of teaching through individual student development while encouraging the highest levels of student achievement. FINANCIAL AIDE Many families would love to provide their children with a private school education but assume they cannot afford it. Many financial aide options, including need-based financial aide are available to help families with the cost of tuition. Financial assistance is given to families from a variety of financial backgrounds, including those who have a demonstrated need as well as those who may request only minimal financial assistance. Inquiring about financial aide will not affect your child’s chance of acceptance, or their education. Atheneum values education above all else, and seeks to build a student body that reflects the diversity of the school. Please contact us for information on need-based tuition assistance and financial aide; we would be delighted to work with you and family. 4225 University Dr., Suite 205 Anchorage, AK 99508 Phone: (907) 344-2533 Fax: (907 349-3975 Email:  atheneum.school@gmail.com
