Admissions to The Atheneum School

Open Houses and Scheduled Visits

Atheneum offers several open houses during the spring for parents and their children who wish to know more about the school. The open houses provide an opportunity to meet and talk with the faculty, tour the school building, and receive the school's bulletin and application packet. Please, call for the exact dates and times of the open houses. Prospective students and their parents may also schedule either a morning or afternoon visit to the school. The school encourages visits from interested students and their parents. It makes every effort to ensure that they have the opportunity to participate fully in the discussions and learning of the particular class they visit. Please contact the school at least two days in advance to schedule a visit.

Application Packet

Students who wish to be considered for admission to Atheneum must obtain and complete the school's application packet. The completed application consists of two brief essays from the student, basic information about the student, transcripts from his or her current school, and the student's and parent's signatures testifying that they have read, understood, and accept the principles outlined in the school community's policies. You can start the application process by filling out the form below.

International Students

Please add to the above form the living arrangements you have made for your time as a student in the US. Your address and host family or apartment in the US is necessary to complete your immigration papers. The school will start the immigration process through SEVIS for your I-20 application for the student visa as soon as we have the information on the form above. The school applies for you and sends you the necessary paperwork. We register your student, then send you the necessary forms to present to the US consulate office in your country.

Interview

After receiving the completed application from a prospective student, the school's staff will schedule an interview with the student and the student's parents. A completed application guarantees an interview. The purpose of the interview is to begin with the prospective student the type of conversation and learning that take place at the school. The interview is generally relaxed and very often enjoyable for all involved. After the interview the staff meets to discuss the student and come to a decision about admission. Applicants will hear of the school's decision within one week of the interview.
