Announcements & Reminders

• Congratulations to Dikeos Foudeas, 9th, for winning 3rd place (black and white) in the Anchorage Press Photography Contest. Many students entered their photos from Will Hoelscher’s photography class. Way to go Dikeos! Congratulations also goes to to Nicholas DeMolina, 12th, who received an honorable mention. Pick up this week’s Anchorage Press and look for Dikeos’ photo. A small version appears in a header on page 3 and then a larger print appears in the article!!

• Austin Johnson, Atheneum graduate 2009, presented to the school today on his solo renewable energy trip to Sweden. Austin made a presentation to The Denali Commission earlier in the day and two more presentations are planned for the coming week.. His ability to plan, meet the right people, and continue the human connections is a marvel and source of inspiration to all of us. He pushes the standard. Austin said, If you do not go, you do not know, and a certain student piped, What a great Atheneum bumper sticker! Austin is an example of an Atheneum alumni who continuously creates opportunities that further his learning, his adventurous spirit and creative entrepreneurial mind. What is next for Austin? Austin will continue seeking out the world’s greatest renewable energy projects in New Zealand, Norway, Denmark and Scotland. We look forward to his return and next presentation.
